Kiffmeister’s #Fintech Daily Digest (20250905)

The CBDCTracker.org database was updated to include central bank digital currency (CBDC) developments to the end of August. There are now 112 central banks that have launched, piloted, done proofs of concept, or started research, including two that launched and then shut down (Ecuador and Finland). The count does not “include”double count” all of the individual national central banks that are part of currency unions (e.g., the European or Eastern Caribbean Currency Unions), so the the tracker’s tally is lower than those of the Atlantic Council and Human Rights Foundation. (DFCs include central bank digital currency (CBDC), stablecoins and tokenized deposits.)
